Experiments In AI Image Generation
Who'd a Thunk It?
Out of sheer curiosity to see what the AI robots would come up with, I prompted the AI Image Generator with the following:
The best possible image
The worst possible image (this was rejected as not specific enough; no image generated)
The ugliest possible image (this was also rejected for the same reason; again, no image generated)
So I then went with “most average image possible”
Finally, I tried “most politically correct image” and “most politically neutral image”
The images the robot cobbled together for these prompts are shown below. See if you agree with them, or if you can figure out why the AI robots generated what they did.
“the best possible image” — Okay, food; I’ll buy that, I guess.
“the most average image possible” — Why, exactly? Is this the “average” woman and the “average” man? And the scenery is pleasantly bland/sort of nondescript, shown on the “average” days (spring equinox and fall equinox) with a run-of-the-mill three-winged bird in flight?
“most politically correct image possible” — What, no Zombies or Martians?
“most politically neutral image possible” — maybe a psychologist can explain this; it leans neither left nor right, or … ?
