GREEN BAY PACKERS 2021: GAME #16
Vs. Vicommoners at Lambeau; Sunday, January 2nd, 7:20 Packer (Central) Time
Monday, December 27th
My prediction, made on Sunday, 12/26: Packers 26-23
I watched some other football over the weekend (usually I only watch the Packers, but I helped my brother-in-law watch a couple of other games). As I watched the four cats (Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, and some cat or chick or somebody) I came up with a great feature for their show:
Every time Bradshaw says something stupid, show a clip of either Howie or Michael sacking him. A mashup of all their sacks and tackles of him would be stupendous, too.
Thursday, 12/30
Jaire Alexander (the Great) is back at practice. That doesn’t necessarily mean he will play this Sunday, but it does strongly indicate the Packers expect to have him back at some point this season.
With A the G back, the Packers secondary will possibly be the best they’ve ever fielded, what with Alexander, Stokes, Razzle Dazzle, Amos, Savage, and King; also, Sullivan and Black and company are no slouches, either. What a group!
As regards Z, though (the snubbee): Crickets.
And Beertiari? Myers? Turner? Will the O-Line return to its preferred starters (minus Rocket Man Jenkins, who is out for the year) by playoff time?
Bojorquez is on the COVID list. If he’s not back by gametime, who will punt?
Friday, 12/31/21
King will be back available for Sunday night’s game, but not Alexander the Great, nor will Beertiari be (which wasn’t expected).
By playoff time, though, the Packers could conceivably have Beertiary, Myers, Turner, Candle Robb, and Alexander back.
But what about Z the Snubbee? He is a mystery. Nothing gets reported about him. Is he close to coming back? What’s going on with him? I get the feeling there is more to his situation than anybody is revealing or even hinting at.
For the Vicommoners, both Atom Tealand and Kirk Cousins Subs is out Sunday.
Since it’s going to be colder than a penguin’s flippers Sunday night, and Cousins Subs won’t be playing, I’d like to change my score prediction to 26-13 Packers.
LeRoy Footman is an HOF finalist. He definitely deserves it. He is one of the cats, along with Reggie Blanco, who made me feel confident in the Packers defense just by his presence on the field. You knew LeRoy and/or Reggie were going to make at least one or two impactful plays in each game.
Sunday 1/2/22
Packers lead 20-3 at the half. Rodgers/Adams looks like a magic show. The other Aaron also has had a couple of long runs. Dalvin hasn’t gotten cookin’ yet, and Justin Jefferson looks like JAG (Just A Guy) so far.
Truth be told, many of the Vikings just look like they wish it was over so they could go home and get warm.
Since the Redbirds beat the Vaqueros earlier, as long as Green Bay can hold on to their lead (and there’s no reason to think they won’t), they will have the top seed wrapped up, with one “meaningless” game to go at Motor City next week.
For the playoffs, I hope they get the following cats back:
Alexander the Great (currently on the COVID list, after practicing a little this week)
Z the Snubbee
Candle Robb
Beertiari
Myers
Turner
Am I forgetting anybody?
8:35 Pacific
Now that’s the kind of game I like: 37-10 Packers.
The rest of the games are in Lambeau, until neutral ground is reached (not counting next week in the Lion’s Den).
And no injuries!
