I’m 2-3 on predictions this year, as I will probably always predict that the Packers win, and they are currently 2-3. Hopefully, I think “we” will break even in game six and get to 3-3. This is my/their record so far this year and my prediction for Sunday, 10/22:
It would be especially gratifying for the Packers to defeat the Denver Bronchitis because their coach, Shawn Paydown, was behind Bountygate while coach of the N’awlins Aint’s (where his charges were paid bonuses to hurt opposing players — a despicable act for which SP should have been banned from the NFL for life!**), and then he dissed a former coach of the Packers, Nathaniel Hackett, prior to this season, saying Buddy’s cousin did a terrible job of coaching the Dever Bronchitis last year. Hackett’s current team, the New Amsterdam Jets, put SP in his place last week by defeating the team he coaches 31-21. Soon it will be the Packers’ turn. This cat (SP) has the Bronchitis at 1-5, far worse than the 5-12 they were last year with former Packers OC Hackett as coach.
Paydown is a cheap impostor and a mean man.
** It’s crazy that a cat who encouraged his players to injure others was allowed back in to the NFL, whereas Colin Kaepernick — who harmed nobody by his actions — remains quite obviously blackballed by the league. Kaepernick may have been misguided in how he expressed his opinion, but his heart was in the right place. That can't be said of SP.
All that having been said, the upshot is that I hope the Packers dismantle the Bronchitis 100-0 (because of who their coach is — I have nothing against the players or the Mile High City), but I’m predicting a victory for Everyman’s Team over Denver by a still acceptable but less satisfactory score of 30-23.
UPDATED 10/22/2023
Foiled again — the Bronchitis defeated the slow-starting Packers 19-17. As The Thing would say, “What a revoltin’ development!”
So I titled this “How Sweet This Victory Will Be” but in reality, the loss is not all that bitter. After all, there are a bunch of rookies on this team, and there are a gazillion injuries to the offensive line (which started off very deep but is getting shallower by the week). I’m still guardedly optimistic about the future of this team, but they may need to bring back Mark Tauscher and Chad Clifton the Big Red Dog as stopgap solutions on the O Line.
