I returned to Garrapata State Park today (a place I visited multiple times a week for the first few years after my firstborn son died), which is located a few miles south of Carmel and just a handful of miles beyond Point Lobos.
Here are a few images I captured while stirring my stumps there:
View to the north from the Soberanes Point Trail
Poison hemlock in the foreground (shaking in the breeze rather than the rafters)
Wild cactus garden on the Soberanes Canyon Trail (future Tequila or Mezcal?)
NOTE: Soberanes Point Trail is west of Highway 1, on the ocean; Soberanes Canyon Trail is east of the highway, towards Hannibal, Missouri, and Cork (Ireland)

Something your dog is always yapping about

If you break down on the highway, you’re supposed to place these around your car
Pretty good camouflage; I also saw a snake — a black one with yaller pinstripes — but when I was about to capture his (or her) spirit, he (or she) absquatulated, lickety-split

...he *absquatulated!*
Yes he did...
