June Jaunt in Garrapata

An Obscure But Beautiful California State Park

I returned to Garrapata State Park today (a place I visited multiple times a week for the first few years after my firstborn son died), which is located a few miles south of Carmel and just a handful of miles beyond Point Lobos.

Here are a few images I captured while stirring my stumps there:

View to the north from the Soberanes Point Trail

NOTE: Soberanes Point Trail is west of Highway 1, on the ocean; Soberanes Canyon Trail is east of the highway, towards Hannibal, Missouri, and Cork (Ireland)

Pretty good camouflage; I also saw a snake — a black one with yaller pinstripes — but when I was about to capture his (or her) spirit, he (or she) absquatulated, lickety-split
