CHAPTER 23
Back in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Warble McGorkle had slowly but steadily, with guidance and encouragement from his wife Mary, made personal improvement to the point where the big red “M” on his forehead had faded almost completely away. The letter had become faint enough, in fact, that the facial recognition software built into the Arodnap (the original prototype of the time & space vehicle which the Zenia Zephyr was modeled after) had allowed him to once again start it up.
Warble and Mary decided to ‘take it for a spin’ forward in time and eastward in space, to pay visits to first Marianne Trieste-Trench, Warble’s former Security Expert, who was now living in Weggis, Switzerland, and then to Ward Robespierre, Warble’s former Image Consultant and right-hand-man. The McGorkles had last seen Ward in Tinga Tinga, Tanzania, in Africa.
Warble had been short with Marianne and downright rude to Ward the last time they had seen each other. However, due to the time that had passed, and especially due to Warble’s improvement of personality and character, he was no longer angry with them, and did even miss them.
So, after loading the Arodnap with what they felt they needed for a few days (tooth brushes, pajamas, and Tsetse fly spray for both, a hiking stick for Warble, and various and sundry toiletries), the McGorkles climbed aboard the Arodnap—just the two of them, this time.
Warble entered the date in the GPS/CPS:
2525
. . .and then the location:
Weggis, Switzerland
. . .and away they flew.
