This bass line, played muted (by damping the strings with my right hand and using my thumb to thump) sounds somewhat like a tuba. Funny how a tuba is probably considered the “uncoolest” instrument of all (unless you’re into German oom-pah or traditional Mexican music), but a bass is obviously the coolest instrument of all (in dance music, anyway, along with its partner in rhythm, the drums). This massive coolness gap, though, is a bit of a conundrum (or “rompecabeza” - headbreaker) as both instruments serve the same purpose and, as demonstrated here, can even sound quite similar.
