Jeanne d’Arc (Joan of Arc) was born a farm girl in 1931; nobody could have imagined how her life would turn out, and that she would be executed while still a teenager during the Hundred Years War fought by France and England.
Joan, after hearing voices telling her to help the French, was ultimately allowed to lead French forces into battle against the English, and was instrumental in many victories for France due to her motivational speeches and personal bravery.
She was eventually captured, and executed by the English for heresy.
For more on Joan of Arc, see the previous (April 29) article here.
Questions: What was Joan’s response to being found guilty of heresy and sentenced to death? Is she still considered a hero by the French? How does the rest of the world view her?
